Equipment

  • Cast iron skillet or grill
  • Meat thermometer

Ingredients

  • 1 1- inch thick Denver steak 8-12 oz
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 sprig of rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
  • Optional: garlic compound butter chimichurri, or wine reduction sauce

Instructions

  • Let your Denver steak come to room temperature before cooking.
  • Preheat your skillet or grill to medium-high heat.
  • Rub your steak with olive oil and season it with salt and black pepper.
  • Place your steak in the hot skillet or grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to monitor the internal temperature.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet or grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
  • Optional: top the steak with garlic compound butter, chimichurri, or wine reduction sauce.

Notes

  • For a medium-rare steak, cook until the internal temperature reaches 135°F. For a medium steak, cook until it reaches 145°F. For a well-done steak, cook until it reaches 160°F.
  • Be sure to let your steak rest before slicing it to allow the juices to redistribute and create a more tender and juicy steak.
  • Experiment with different cuts of beef and sauces to find your favorite variation of this recipe.
