Equipment

  • slow cooker
  • Aluminum foil
  • Meat thermometer
  • Instant-read thermometer
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lb boneless beef chuck eye steak
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs such as thyme, rosemary, and parsley, chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce

Instructions

  • Remove the steak from the refrigerator and bring it to room temperature.
  • Preheat the slow cooker on medium-high heat.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  • Season the steak with black pepper and sear it in the skillet for 3-4 minutes per side or until browned.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet and place it in the slow cooker.
  • In the same skillet, add the butter, garlic, herbs, beef broth, and tomato sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the butter is melted.
  • Pour the mixture over the steak in the slow cooker.
  • Cover the slow cooker with aluminum foil and cook the steak on low heat for 6-8 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F.
  • Remove the steak from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve the steak with your choice of sides such as baby carrots, new potatoes, or a green salad.

Notes

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steak.
  • For a more flavorful steak, try marinating it in a mixture of soy sauce, lemon juice, and red wine vinegar for at least 2 hours before cooking.
  • For a different cooking method, you can try pan-searing or oven-roasting the steak instead of slow-cooking it.
  • You can also add vegetables such as onions and red pepper to the slow cooker for a more complete meal.
