A Flexible Ribeye Steak Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Olive oil
  • Bell peppers
  • Small bowl
  • Ribeye steak
  • Black pepper
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Green peppers
  • Kosher salt
  • Garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Rib eye steaks
  • Steak seasoning
  • Tomato relish
  • Baby portobello mushrooms
  • Cloves garlic
  • Tablespoon butter
  • Steak sauce
  • Basil-chili oil
  • Cup mayonnaise
  • Hot sauce
  • Chipotle vinegar
  • Little salt
  • Slice of cheese
  • Pour marinade
  • Baking sheet
  • Set steaks
  • Top bun
  • Thick slices

Preparation:

  1. Start by preparing the marinade for the steak. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Place the ribeye steaks in an airtight container and pour the marinade over them, making sure to coat both sides evenly. Allow the steaks to marinate in the fridge for at least an hour, or overnight for best results.
  2. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. While the grill is heating up, slice the bell peppers and green peppers into thin strips and set aside.
  3. Once the grill is hot, place the ribeye steaks on the grill grates and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Use tongs to carefully flip the steaks and ensure they get nice grill marks.
  4. While the steaks are cooking, melt a tablespoon of butter in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced peppers and sauté until they are tender and slightly caramelized.
  5. As the peppers are cooking, prepare the tomato relish by combining the tomato relish, baby portobello mushrooms, and a couple cloves of minced garlic in a food processor. Pulse until the ingredients are combined and form a chunky sauce.
  6. Once the steaks are cooked to your liking, remove them from the grill and allow them to rest for a few minutes. Thinly slice the steaks against the grain.
  7. Assemble the sandwiches by spreading a layer of basil-chili oil on the top and bottom buns. On the bottom bun, layer the sliced steak, sautéed peppers, and a slice of cheese. On the top bun, spread a generous amount of chipotle mayonnaise and top with the tomato relish.
  8. Serve the sandwiches hot, with a side of potato chips or your choice of side dish.

Serving: There are endless possibilities when it comes to serving ribeye steak sandwiches. For a classic approach, serve the sandwiches with a side of potato chips or fries. Alternatively, you could pair the sandwiches with a refreshing salad or a pile of crispy onion rings.

Grilling Techniques

If you’re a grill master, you probably already have your preferred method for grilling steak down pat. But for those who are new to grilling or just looking to up their game, here are a few tips for getting the best results:

  • Use a high-quality, sharp knife to slice your steaks. This will ensure a clean cut and help the steaks cook evenly.
  • Preheat your grill to the appropriate temperature for the type of steak you’re cooking. A medium-high heat is usually ideal for ribeye steaks, while skirt steaks and filet mignon may require a slightly lower heat.
  • Avoid using a fork to turn the steaks – use tongs instead. Piercing the steak with a fork can cause it to lose its juices, resulting in a drier and less flavorful final product.

Variations and Additions

One of the great things about ribeye steak sandwiches is their versatility – there are endless ways to mix and match ingredients to suit your taste buds. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • If you’re a fan of spicy food, try adding some hot sauce or chipotle mayo to your sandwich.
  • For a tangy twist, try adding some balsamic vinegar or roasted garlic mayo to your sandwich.
  • If you’re feeling adventurous, try grilling some hot dogs or shish kabobs alongside your steaks for a fun and flavorful meal.
  • For a more traditional approach, try adding some grilled onions, red onions, or sautĂ©ed sweet onion to your sandwich.
  • For a touch of greenery, add some peppery arugula or a few slices of tomato to your sandwich.

Bread Options

The type of bread you use for your ribeye steak sandwich can really make a difference in the final product. Here are a few options to consider:

  • Hoagie buns are a classic choice for ribeye steak sandwiches. They’re soft and slightly chewy, making them a great base for the juicy steak.
  • Ciabatta rolls are another popular option – they have a slightly crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy interior, which helps to soak up all the delicious flavors of the sandwich.
  • For a more gourmet twist, try using a toasted bun or ciabatta roll. The added crunch adds an extra layer of texture to the sandwich.
  • If you’re in the mood for something a little different, try using a bagel or a pita pocket as the base for your sandwich.
